To install windows XP for DV7 (AMD! only), you need this material:
DV7 model specifically for vista and you need to run a process called slipstream. This process is to create a new XP CD which contain additional driver (sata ahci controller)
MATRIAL NEED:
1.AMD sata AHCI controller: Download and Download
2. Nlite : Download
3. A new Blank CD

First of all i never install windows XP on this model but this is my suggestion to install windows XP on it. It is base on Intel (along nvdia),
You will need create your own XP cd by slipstreaming process.
First if you don’t have windows XP SP2 get the patch here:
Download
Download Nlite and install:
Download

First, let me explain about this. While install XP proff, it won’t detect the harddrive or it will ask to install the SATA driver.
