Avatar once more shocks the entertainment industry.The biggest cinema hit of all time Avatar is now become the hottest Blu-ray seller ever.Avatar sales reported more than doubled the record first day sales figures in the United States.That is outstanding achievement.
James Cameron’s Avatar creator can now smile for a 1.5 million copies sold upon its stateside launch date last Tuesday. Suprisingly twice as many as the 600,000 tallied by The Dark Knight movie Batman.
Avatar film had topped 2.7 million Blu-ray sales on Sunday, beating The Dark Knight’s total of 2.5 million. If you include regular DVD sales, that’s 6.7 million in total. This is all very impressive/confusing considering this particular edition is not in 3D and has absolutely no special features to speak of.
The high definition disc launched in the UK today, and is also expected to be the biggest Blu-ray seller in the history of ever on this side of the pond. Our advice? Wait for the inevitable special edition, which will at least have some interesting making-of featurettes, because when you think about it, without 3D, is there really any reason to want to watch this film ever again?
